Young, talented and unsuccessful…
The story of an artist who grew up in the wrong decade (maybe) and in the wrong country (definitely).
After playing 550 concerts in 15 countries, recording over 150 songs and selling thousands of e.p.s and records without help from managers or record companies there’s one question jumping through Daniel Benjamin’s career: what is the measure of success?
From finally having an own drumset in the 80´s, the first punk rock band with 14, writing songs, promoting his own live shows, self – releasing recordings made at home until being able to make a living from his own creativity, Daniel Benjamin has scored a lot of goals that most modern „pop stars“ haven’t achieved yet.
But still there are no cover stories in magazines or video clips on MTV, no sold out arena gigs and platinum records.
The increasing number of dedicated fans could imagine Daniel Benjamin there and he himself would be glad to be the next big thing. His melodies could be little anchors in the heads of millions, his sound could catch the masses and his aura could make him a new icon.
But who is gonna bring him there? Signing to Germany´s number one indie record company Haldern Pop Recordings and getting record deal offers in numerous other European countries is one step but more important are YOU: whatever you think you can do you are exactly the right person to
spread the news in your world.
Thank You!

Gutentag Daniel Benjamin
I’m a dutch fan of your music and to support you i’m trying to make a page on a dutch/belgium site about music http://www.musicmeter.nl/artist/54190
To make sure the information is right i would like to ask you some questions:
1. would you prefer to discribe you as a band or a solo artist?
for soloartist:
2. what’s your birthname
3. what’s your date of born
4. what’s the place of born
for group:
5. what’s the date of beginning with the band
6. what’s the city where you come from
7. who are the members of the band (also who eventualy left the band in history) and in wich year did they join the band
also i would like to make a page for jumbo jet could you give me more informations about this band?
and last but not least: please, when do you have a gig in holland again????
very thanks to answer me

hey arie dirk
thanks for the questions. maybe we will start a question page here as well. before i answer, a question to you: do you feel comfortable visiting this page even though half of it is german? we were thinking maybe it´s better to split it all up in a completely english and a completely german site and hope that other languages follow. whatcha think?
so here´s the answers…
1. would you prefer to discribe you as a band or a solo artist?
i describe myself as a solo artist. cause i already feel it´s completely ridiculous to call myself solo artist and “daniel benjamin” but if a band would be called after me that would be even worse.
for soloartist:
2. what’s your birthname
my birthname is daniel benjamin. there´s nothing else you wanna know.
3. what’s your date of born
i hope my new album sounds exactly like the year i was born.
4. what’s the place of born
i was born in a taxi on the way to the hospital. i was born 3 weeks early cause the house my family used to live in was burning cause my oldest brother left some of his toy cars on the oven. my mother had to jump out of the window (in the first floor so not really dramatic) and that caused me to wanna come out and see wassup.
for group:
5. what’s the date of beginning with the band
we will have a new band touring with me for the next season and we´ll start practising soon. i don´t think i want everyone to know who will be in it cause i like surprises.
6. what’s the city where you come from
right now i live in an old hippie community called freakenhausen. in a way it´s typical german in a way it´s not. eleni and me bought a house there. houses here are really cheap but you´re only allowed to buy one here if you can prove that you try to be special. so it took me ten years until they accepted that i was at least a pseudo.
7. who are the members of the band (also who eventualy left the band in history) and in wich year did they join the band
well there are too many to list i think. also no one left the band they´re actually all still in the band just not available.
also i would like to make a page for jumbo jet could you give me more informations about this band?
oh yeah i would love to but i need to know what exactly you need to know you know?
and last but not least: please, when do you have a gig in holland again????
oh i hope this autumn. we´re talking to some good labels there and then we come back. i love holland.

thanx a lot!
i have put the page of jumbo jet on the site, so i’ll hope you get some fans in holland after your tour. so we can start a discussion about the bands.
i would like to put your new albums if they are there.
i’ve seen you’re already in contact with the label volkoren and the site youmakemusic.
maybe a tip for you, there is a label in holland who’s called excelsior. they have a lot of indie-bands and thesedays more and more bands from the outside are joining the label.
good luck with the album and making the tour and i’ll see you after summer

benjamin,
wenn du sagst, du bist definitiv im falschen land geboren: in welchem land hättest du denn gern geboren werden wollen? (häh?)
